Eka

The EKA app for fuel card holders: turnkey solutions for iOS and Android
About the project
The app allows the driver to discard the plastic fuel card and transfer it to the smartphone.

The user can view the card balance, the list of fuel stations and service stations, create a route to the selected station, and see the history of fueling and expenses. The user can also refuel without leaving the car.
Task
EKA fuel company is one of the sales leaders on the Moscow region oil products market since 1997.

The customer decided to make mobile applications to track gas station operations in real time, control payments and fuel consumption.

Using a virtual fuel card, car owners will be able to spend 30% less on gasoline and other gas station services (VAT refund of 20% + savings of up to 10%).

The app will save the company from the risks associated with cash, such as overpayments and refueling after hours. And if the driver has a problem while refueling, he can quickly solve it in the online chat.

Solution
We had to make apps for iOS and Android from scratch: draw up the terms of reference, develop prototypes, draw the design, and write code for the two operating systems.

In order for the apps to receive map data with service points, gas station attributes, and route building, we set up integration with the "Multigo" geoservice.

We attached to the customer's backend - this allowed applications to use fuel card data, their limits and transaction histories. But this is not the end of our work with the backend: to allow the user to change the display of data in the application we have implemented the work of filters on the data received from the backend.

It was necessary to add online chat to the applications. We chose JivoSite, one of the most common and reliable solutions.

Configuration of the main parameters of the Android application was implemented through the service Firebase Remote Config. It opens up a wide range of possibilities. For example, we can change the appearance and functionality of the application remotely, without publishing updates to Google Play.

Locator
With the help of the locator you can find the nearest gas station on the map and build the best route to it in your favorite navigator, an example from Yandex or Google.

Payment
In the future, it will be possible to pay for fuel directly from the app - and not have to show the card to a gas station attendant. The driver will be able to fill up his car without leaving it.
Payment
What the app can do
Authorization by fuel card and FaceID
To log in to the app for the first time, all you have to do is enter your fuel card number and the phone number linked to it. Then you can use your fingerprint or FaceID to log in.

Search for service points by filter
Filters can help you quickly find a gas station by certain parameters. For example, you can filter search results by gas station brand, gasoline brand, availability of parking, car wash, café and other services. You can select one filter or several at once.

Building a route to the gas station
The driver can build a route to the desired service station.

Initially, it was possible to build a route in the app itself. But after testing it, we found that it was more convenient for drivers to use familiar services like Yandex.Navigator. That's why we've made the app friendly with popular navigators.

View limit settings
By clicking on the fuel card, the driver will see details on the limit in a pop-up window: available products and services, validity period, size and balance of the limit.

Refueling from the car interior
Those who don't want to get out of the car can arrange and pay for their gasoline in the app. It's enough to select the number of the filling station, the type of gasoline, the number of liters - and press the "Pay" button.

Online Chat Hotline
If the driver has something wrong, he can write to the chat - and the manager will quickly solve the problem. For example, the chat will tell you how to block the fuel card if a person has lost it.

Working offline
If the Internet is lost on the road, the driver can still use the locator: see points of gas stations on the map, learn their mode of operation and a list of additional services.

We have implemented the locator data in the form of directories, so that the application is useful even without the Internet.

Outcome
The application allows the customer to track operations at filling stations in real time - and to better control the distribution of money and gasoline consumption.

Users have received a convenient tool to search for gas stations, control fuel card limits, and view payment history. And in the future, drivers will be able to fill up their cars without leaving the car and save up to 30% on gasoline.

We clearly planned all the processes of the application life cycle. That's why we managed to finish our work in time and deliver the working product to the customer.
